George Jones. Radio station rockin’ to new tunes

The new format features the biggest hits by such well-known artists as Billy Joel, Queen, the Beatles, Tom Petty and the Electric Light Orchestra. The first song played Tuesday was “Let the Good Times Roll” by the Cars. The station wants to attract listeners age 25 to 50 who like classic rock, McKay said. How will WWNQ differ from WMFX-FM, “Fox 102,” a Columbia station already playing classic rock? WWNQ will play only the biggest hits, McKay said.

And unlike Fox 102, all the programming on WWNQ will be transmitted by satellite, and local radio personalities will not be part of the mix. The station started the classic country format four years ago. In this past summer’s Arbitron ratings, it came in 15th out of 24 local stations. The station has been in transition since Thanksgiving, when it began playing all Christmas music.

Christopher Plummer. “I’ve spent my life remembering lines, and that memory training helps a great deal.

Plummer, 79, still has stories to tell, and not just on stage and screen. His new backstage memoir, “In Spite of Myself” (Alfred A. Knopf, 656 pages, $37), is winning great praise for its candor and wit, “a rich, ribald, old-fashioned name-dropper,” Entertainment Weekly called it. The actor recalls being fired by the great stage actress Katherine Cornell, being overweight and prone to tantrums (“pampered” and “arrogant”) while filming “The Sound of Music,” the funny debacle of filming “Waterloo” with Russians, the challenge of “The Man Who Would Be King” with , and.

“I’ve spent my life remembering lines, and that memory training helps a great deal. As I went back and recalled say, Kate Reid, for example, a great actress who became a great friend of mine, I’d think of Kate and about 20 other stories would pop into my head. The anecdotes snowball … “My family trained me to love poetry, to appreciate its cadence and rhythm. I learned Shakespeare that way, so by the time it came to playing the roles, I was ahead. I could go back to any Shakespeare role I’ve played and it wouldn’t take long at all to recall the lines, even now.

Evans Forrest Griffin. Rashad Evans, Quinton Jackson, Frank Mir all post wins at UFC 92

LAS VEGAS – Rashad Evans dethroned light-heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin at UFC 92 Saturday night, taking away the title with some vicious ground and pound in the third round at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Griffin used his size and kicks to keep Evans at bay in the first two rounds of a battle of winners of Seasons 1 and 2 of “The Ultimate Fighter” reality TV show. But Evans took the champion down in the third, hurt him with a big right to the head and then unleashed four more rights and seven lefts to the head and it was over. Evans joins welterweight title-holder Georges St. Pierre of Montreal as mixed martial arts champions who are part of trainer Greg Jackson’s camp in Albuquerque, N.M. Elsewhere on the “UFC 92: The Ultimate 2008″ mixed martial arts card before 14,103, Quinton (Rampage) Jackson knocked out Wanderlei (The Axe Murderer) Silva with one punch in the first round of their light-heavyweight grudge match and former heavyweight champion Frank Mir looked dominant in upsetting interim title-holder Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira via second-round TKO.

Evans, 29, made US$190,000, including a $65,000 win bonus and $60,000 for fight of the night, while Griffin earned $160,000 including the fight bonus, according to the Nevada State Athletic Commission. The card drew a live gate of $3.47 million. At 6-3, Griffin had four inches on Evans and used his leg kicks to good effect in the first round as he did in winning the title from Jackson.

Watch Sting 2008 Live. Gonna be a 5 year losing streak for OU this year, meanwhile UT will take care of tOSU with only 1 real star on the team and a freshman QB it.

Amber alert just went out, seems a 6 year old named Dre has run away from his double wide and is posting nonsense on the internet. He is easy to spot he has no teeth is wearing a t-shirt that says “I love Bob Stoops” and has soiled his diaper. Don’t try to catch him just call the local authorities, they will get his straight jacket on him and return him to the mental ward. By wayne December 23, 2008 11:12 AM | Tre…come on out of the closet and admit that you are not a sooner, you’re an aggie.

True, we didn’t have much to say about a&m beating the horns 2 years in a row, because we were embarassed after losing to one of our inferiors. Besides, what the hell? With this year’s butt kicking by Texas a&m has won an impressive 3 of the last 11 games vs. Texas.

Golden Tate. Missoulian: National & World News

HONOLULU (AP) — It’s come to this for Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis: He needs a victory to have a merry Christmas – and a winning record. “When I’m sitting here on Christmas Eve after the game with my wife and kid, waiting for Santa and the sleigh to pull up, I want to have a smile on my face,” he said. “And I won’t be the happiest camper if it goes the other way.” Weis hasn’t had much to smile about this season, so a win over Hawaii in the Hawaii Bowl on Wednesday night would certainly be welcome.

Yes, the Fighting Irish are in the postseason, but with a 6-6 record and losses in four of their last five games. To make matters worse, Notre Dame has an NCAA-record nine-game bowl losing streak. The Fighting Irish haven’t hoisted a postseason trophy since beating Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl after the 1993 season. “Breaking our bowl streak, that’s very, very important,” tailback Armondo Allen said.

Matt Dallas. It defined for me the moment I truly supported Obama.

I’d just say that Pastor Warren and Pres. Elect Obama seem to genuinely like each other. Obama’s appearance at the Warren-McCain-Obama event sort of cemented to me that we got a man who is spiritual at his core despite his apparently great intellect. It defined for me the moment I truly supported Obama.

Obama’s handlers did not like it that the theater of it all did not go their way. But, we got to see Obama reveal himself. To me, and many others, that moment and that chance meant more than who looked better on stage.
