Order Selfish. Hilary Duff guests on SVU

Hilary Duff is guest starring on a lot of series television lately. Tonight, Duff visits Law and Order: SVU. Apparently everyone in Los Angeles jumped on the freeway early last night as they rushed to the opening of Ghosts of Girlfriends Past at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. The reason is I saw a rare thing in Los Angeles last night, no traffic on the freeway at six o’clock.

Really, folks, you have no idea how rare that is. So rare that I thought perhaps the city had been evacuated and I missed the news. Don’t miss our interview with Jennifer Garner and Matthew McConaughey from the film ! I wasn’t there for the premiere but I did see one of the movie’s stars, Michael Douglas at the restaurant where we had dinner. How cool is that.

Lamar Odom. Recap: LA Lakers vs. Utah

Paul Millsap led a fourth-quarter charge and finished with 16 points for the Jazz, while Deron Williams and Andrei Kirilenko each added 14 in defeat. “The Lakers did a good job defensively, they took it to us in the second half,” said Jazz forward Carlos Boozer. “Our guys that were our there, they played their butts off, unfortunately our season has come to an end.

I’d like to come back, but I’ll talk to may agent and family, and go from there.” The Lakers went to the fourth quarter holding an 82-63 lead and were up 93-73 following a pair of free throws from Andrew Bynum with 8 1/2 minutes remaining. That’s when Millsap took matters into his own hands, recording a personal 11-0 spurt. Ronnie Brewer’s follow dunk capped the run of 13 straight points. Bryant interjected with a double-clutch jumper, but Kyle Korver drilled a three-pointer from the corner for a 95-89 difference with under four minutes left.

Talladega. Late crash injures seven race fans

The fence bowed, but held, and Edwards returned safely to the racing surface — another “Big One” to thrill the fans. Only this time, seven people were hurt and one of the lasting images of Sunday’s race will be the pink-clad woman strapped to a stretcher, her head in a brace as she was airlifted to a hospital after debris from Edwards’ last-lap crash with winner Brad Keselowski sailed into the grandstands. Edwards, who climbed from the fiery wreckage and crossed the finish line on foot, was thankful it wasn’t worse. “I’m glad the car didn’t go up in the grandstands,” he said.

“I saw some fencing at one point and that made me a little bit nervous. I don’t know if I could live with myself if I ended up in the grandstands.” Officials said seven fans sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and an eighth fan seated in the same section of the grandstand had an undisclosed medical issue. Dr. Bobby Lewis, Talladega’s onsite physician, said two people in the crowd were airlifted from the track to avoid the heavy traffic.

Dallas. Cowboys on sidelines for first day of NFL draft

IRVING – For the first time since he bought the team, Jerry Jones didn’t make a selection for the Dallas Cowboys in the first two rounds of the NFL draft. Jones won’t be inactive for long, though. Not with the Cowboys holding a dozen picks Sunday. The Cowboys traded their second-round pick Saturday, leaving them without a selection on the first day of draft.

The Buffalo Bills acquired the 51st pick from the Cowboys in exchange for third- and fourth-round picks, the 75th and 110th selections. “It turns out it wasn’t hard,” Jones said of the inactivity. “Anybody likes to have some results.

Girls. FA Cup: Everton knock out Man U

London Goalkeeper Tim Howard saved two penalties against his former club to inspire Everton to a 4-2 shootout win over Manchester United on Sunday which sent them into the FA Cup final for the first time since 1995. Howard saved United’s first two spot-kicks from Dimitar Berbatov and Rio Ferdinand after a turgid semi-final ended 0-0 after extra time at Wembley Stadium. Everton will return to Wembley for the final on May 30 against Chelsea, who beat Arsenal 2-1 in Saturday’s first semi-final. Everton defender Phil Jagielka scored the winning penalty, blasting the ball past goalkeeper Ben Foster to inflict United’s first defeat in an FA Cup semi-final since 1970.

United manager Alex Ferguson gambled by playing a largely reserve side and defeat ended the European champions’ hopes of winning an unprecedented five major trophies this season. “It was a tough game for us. Man United, whoever they play, they could put out their under-14’s and it would have been a tough game because they play to win every competition that they are in,” Everton manager David Moyes said in a televised interview. “I thought we kept at it, I thought we could have played better at times but Man United made it difficult for us.

Couple, their 3 kids found dead in Maryland home : 24 Hour Breaking News : The Buffalo News

A Maryland man who killed his wife and three children before fatally shooting himself left behind five notes, including an apology to family members and hints that he suffered from psychiatric problems, authorities said. The local sheriff said there were also signs that the family had financial problems. For residents of the small town of Middletown and members of Holy Family Catholic Community Church, where the slain mother taught catechism, reports of the brutal killings were upsetting and baffling. “We’re all in shock and trying to come to terms,” said Kevin Farmer, the pastor of Holy Family.

Christopher Alan Wood killed his wife and children, then himself, in their northwest Maryland home, leaving a gruesome scene that authorities said was found Saturday by the children’s’ grandfather. The 33-year-old mother and three children suffered “traumatic cuts” and each also had at least one gunshot wound from a.25-caliber handgun, Frederick County Sheriff Charles Jenkins said. Their precise cause of death wasn’t immediately known, and Jenkins declined to say what was used to slash them. Jenkins said Wood, an accountant at railroad operator CSX Corp., apologized to family members in one of the notes he left at the scene.

Houston, TX (HNN) – The Marshall University’s women’s tennis team defeated East Carolina University, 4-0, Friday afternoon, April 17, 2009 at the Conference USA Championship in Houston, Texas. The championships are hosted by Rice University with matches played at the Jack Hess Tennis Center. After a short 30 minute lightning delay, the No. 72 and third-seeded Thundering Herd won its quarterfinal match over the sixth-seeded Pirates to advance Marshall to the semifinal round Saturday. “I think we will have a good match tomorrow,” Marshall’s head coach John Mercer said. “Tulsa is always a tough match and it will be a challenge for us to undertake.” Marshall improved to 14-10 overall, while ECU ended its season at 14-7.

The Pirates didn’t get one win, as the Herd took the doubles point and then quickly took three straight-set single matches. The Herd’s pair of Catherine Kellner (Smithtown, N.Y.) and Thaddea Lock (Bristol, England) took an 8-6 decision over Natalie Collins and Tamara Sachs, at the No. 3 position. The duo of Jessica Keener (Reston, Va.) and Deanna Bailey (McDonough, Ga.) defeated Brooke Walter and Rocio Cabanillas, 8-3, at the No. 2 slot to secure the doubles point for the Herd.
